Chiquita Clarissa is a multidisciplinary designer specializing in creative and art direction, editorial design, and motion design. She describes herself as an “indonesische Wahlberlinerin” and a native of social media and the internet.
Currently, she works at the BMW Foundation as an Art Director, overseeing all visual communication for the foundation. Prior to joining, she worked as an Art Director for global and German brands such as Netflix, Spotify, ZDF, and many more.
Chiquita adheres to Paula Scher’s belief that “great design is serious, not solemn” — which is why she started Studio Sementara on Instagram for her graphic design work, TikTok for woodworking, and now this blog for everything in between. When she’s not paying homage to pop culture and her love of dark humor through art, she can be found wandering through museums, jamming alone on her electric bass, or tinkering in her woodworking workshop.
Sementara means “in the meantime” or “temporary” in Indonesian. Though she originally intended the studio name to be temporary, it has stuck with her for a while.
